Meyer goes low for City lead after Rolling Hills

Dylan Meyer simply played better than everyone else Saturday at Rolling Hills to take the lead after three rounds of the 85th annual Evansville Courier & Press Men’s City Golf Tournament.

The recent Central graduate destined for Illinois this fall, made five birdies and one three-putt bogey on his way to a 4-under par 68, the round of the day at Rolling Hills.

It gave Meyer at 200, a one-shot lead over second-round leader David Mills, who struggled with short putts on his way to a 1-under par 71 and a three-round total of 201.

Mills had started the day with a two-stroke lead but saw that go away in three holes as Meyer birdied twice and Mills settled for pars. Then Meyer took the lead with a twisting birdie putt at the par-3 sixth hole.

But Mills birdied two of the last three holes to climb within one heading into Sunday’s final round at Evansville Country Club.

The final group will also include defending champion Logan Osborne, who posted Saturday’s second-best score, a 3-under par 69. Osborne is at 209.
