Mills leads at City’s halfway point

David Mills, the recent Indiana University graduate seeking his second Men’s City Tournament title, has the outright lead after two rounds of the 85th annual edition.

Mills followed a 2-under 69 Saturday at Helfrich with a 9-under par 61 Sunday at Fendrich for a two-round total of 130 and a two-shot lead over Dylan Meyer.

Meyer, who will attend Illinois in the fall, also shot 69 Saturday when there was a four-way tie for the lead and followed that with a 7-under 63 Sunday to find himself alone in second at 132.

Ryan Terry, who currently plays collegiately at Lipscomb, is alone in third at 137 after shooting 70 Saturday and 67 at Fendrich.

Grant Saylor is in fourth at 139, while defending champion Logan Osborne heads a pack of five players tied for fifth at 1-under 140.

Other numbers of note include the cut line, which fell at 148 for exactly 40 players, and the exemption line for the top 100, which is 158.

The tournament continues next weekend with the third round at Rolling Hills Country Club on Saturday and concludes Sunday with the final round at Evansville Country Club…Steve Ford…
